Chapter 1. [[ Lesson gone wrong. ]]
Dusting my dirty wranglers off with my pale palm, I would have been yelled at by my step-father. But oh well I was in my home now; my real home. I glanced around the humungous facilities that had everything from $30,000 dressage horses to $650 rescues. I loved it. Espically my palomino, who had his head over the stall and his head cocked in that special way everytime he saw me, he was my bestfriend, he was my guardian; he's Tazz. Tazz just happens to be one of those rescues, that couldn't compete in the feedlot and he was well broke. I got him at an auction for my birthday from my mother and we brought him home. I was over-joyed. I couldn't count on my whole classes fingers how many times I thanked them and told them I loved them; suck up, right? I was awakened from my day dream from a whinny not from Tazz, but from my arch enemies horse. Sonny. I crossed my arms over my chest and shifted weight to one hip, doing that head thing like the black chicks did as I starred at Lauren and Sonny. She had tied sonny up in the cross ties and now was looking at me aswell.
After a moment of silent glare, Lauren spoke. "I guess you and your . . ." She gave a long side glance, a disgusted look on her face as she did, to Tazz before continuing. " . . . horse are going to be competeting against Sonny and I this year?" She almost sounded please at this thought, like we were friends and it was supose to be friendly competition, but I wasn't as dumb as I looked, I'd show her I wouldn't be left in the dust this time. Tazz and I have been practicing since September, it's April now. And the kicking off of the show season was May 31st and to tell you the truth, I was pretty damn nervous about it aswell. Even though people said I was doing great. I really didn't believe them, I was 13 competeing in what seemed like the biggest thing on my like. With another snooty look, I remembered Lauren was there, looking at me. "Yes, we are. It's going to be fun, isn't it?" As I finished heavy sarcasim hung in the air, daring for one of us to speak. "Huh." Her lyrics were snooty as she passed me, bumping into my arm and I stumbeled backwards, catching myself on the stall door and looking at her and sighing. "Don't worry Tazz. Sherry won't let her push us around in lessons.
By the time I had tacked up and mounter, and situated myself in the english saddle, I looked around peering to see whom was all around me. It was Lauren, Sage, Becky, Cara, and I. Oh, and from that same order, our horses. Sonny, Flash, Dudley, Blue, and Tazz. Pretty simple. Not if you were Sherry at the moment whom was trying to watch all of us on a left lead canter, switching leads. "Okay!" I heard Sherry call, which meant take you horses to the center of the ring. I pulled lightly on my reight rein, and pushed gently with my calf and knee on his left side to make him go into the turn better.
Meanwhile, Lauren wasn't having such a good time. Becky, Cara, Sage and I had already come to the middle, waiting for Lauren. I came back to paying attention when Tazz shifted his weight underneath me. I glanced over my shoulder to take a peek at Lauren, whom was now fighting for her rein as Sonny was bolting around the outdoor areana and tugging Sonny's head back, which automatically, horses will fight that; so Lauren had just lost the game of 'Who's stronger?' Hearing a scream I snapped my head around to Sherry, Sage, Becky, and Cara, whom must have forgot not to panick when something went bad. Looking back over my shoulder, Sonny had jumped the fence and was running full tilt down the road. And Laurn was hanging on for dear life.
I bit back and swallowed my scream, before turning Tazz sharply. My calves dug into his barrel lightly pushing him forward before leaping over the half open gate. "Lynn, what are you doing?!" I heard Sherry scream, but it was to late. I was in two point and Tazz was working over time to catch Sonny, which wouldn't be hard at all. I gave Tazz his head. We now looked like a blue/palomino blur racing down the range road trying to catch Lauren and Sonny. It really wasn't a long till I caught up with her and was glancing anxiously underneath my arm to see if anyone was following, surely enough. Sage and Flash, Cara and Blue, and Becky and Dudley, were also going full tilt. Screaming and had worried looks on they're faces, from what I could see. I pressed Tazz closer to Sonny. The truth was, Sonny and Tazz really liked each other, I was glad. I had nothing against Sonny, just Lauren. I reached my arm out and wrapped it around Laurens waist who didn't looked please to see me but wasn't angry. Hoisting her off of her horse and onto Tazzs back, I saw Tazz lay his ears back to listen to what he was doing, he was breathing heavy but I already was slowing him to a stop.
Lauren had a worried look on her face when I dismounted Tazz and she slid off, I patted his now, sweaty palomino neck and thanked him and kissed his velvet muzzle, stroking his nape. "What were you thinking?" My lyrics came out in a flat tone, not even showing the least bit of cocern for the girl. "You shouldn't have even tried to gallop back to the circle. Gosh." And that was all I said, I watched as Sage, Cara, and Becky smiled at me, I waved my fingers, before mounting up and gathering up my reins, looking at Lauren. "They're going to get Sonny. You better take your time coming back." I warned her this because Sherry would be furious; and she was.
"Lynn!" I slowed Tazz to a trot and glanced at Sherry, before dismounting in the stable yard, where two stable hands rushed to my aid, taking Tazz away from me. "Wha?" I was conused, they never came and even thought about helping me. They were only supose to clean stalls, feed, and do rotation. "Yes, I made them do that." Sherry commented as she saw the confusion wrinkles, as she called them, on my face. "Don't look so worried, you'll look old." Sherry was only teasing, and I smiled back at her. Thats when Lauren entered the stable yard and the questions begun.
No stable hand rushed to get Sonny, like what would have happened everytime, every groom in the stable was to busy pampering Tazz, Flash, Blue, and Dudley. Becky, Sage, Cara and I were lookng at Lauren, before Sherry waved her hand to diss-miss us and we all walked swiftly away, trying to hold in our chorus of laughter. Although, when we got to the lounge, we all dropped onto the couch; laughing. A car horn honked, and I peered over Cara's head and out the window to see my moms fimilar van in the parking lot, waving good-bye to my friends I skipped out and rushed towards the car. Sliding in the front seat.
Chapter 2 [[ The bad news. ]]
My mom looked somewhat worried as I crawled into the car and sat down, adjusting my seat belt so it filt nicely and it wasn't digging into my skin or anything, which I found un-comfortable.
I WILL KEEP WRITING MORE AND HOPEFULLY HAVE OVER NINE CHAPTERS! Hint, the word hopefully.
